Additive manufacturing engineer
Design and production by adding material rather than removing it. Israel is a global centre for this, so the route from these courses to these companies is unusually short.
What the work actually is
You decide what should be printed rather than machined, redesign it so that it can be, and then own the process: orientation, supports, parameters, post-processing and the anisotropy that means the part is weaker in one direction than the other.
The interesting half is design freedom. Topology optimisation and lattice structures produce geometry no other process can make, and exploiting that properly is a genuine specialisation rather than a software skill.
The unglamorous half is qualification: proving a printed part is repeatable enough to put in a product.

What prepares you
3D printing and design of plastic parts is the core course. Engineering design supplies the method around it, and finite elements is what makes topology optimisation meaningful rather than decorative. The materials lab matters more than people expect, because printed material behaviour is the whole problem.
