Simulation and FEA engineer
You are the person who says whether the part survives. It is the most consistently advertised mechanical role in Israel, and the one a mechanical degree maps onto most directly.
What the work actually is
A designer sends you geometry and a load case. You decide how to idealise it, mesh it, run it, and then do the part that actually matters: work out whether the answer is true. Most of the job is judgement about the model rather than operating the solver.
The output is a number with a margin attached and your name on it. Somebody downstream cuts metal on the strength of it, so the culture around the role is conservative in a way that surprises graduates: you are expected to explain your assumptions, not just present contours.
In a defence or aerospace shop you will spend a lot of time on documentation and on repeating analyses when the design moves. In a startup you will be the only person who does this, which means faster work and nobody to check it.

What prepares you
Take Introduction to finite elements early, in the third-year fall, because Industrial applications runs in the spring and cannot follow it in the same year otherwise. Mechanics of solids 2 and Elasticity are what stop the solver being a black box: without them you can produce a contour plot but not defend it. Theory of structures and Structural design turn analysis into design decisions.

Owning how the thing actually gets made, at rate and at yield. Less visible than design and considerably harder to outsource.
