Energy systems and power plant engineer
Thermodynamics at plant scale. The most direct application of the classical mechanical curriculum, and the route with the clearest public-sector option.
What the work actually is
You work on cycles and the machines that run them: boilers, turbines, heat exchangers, combined cycles and cogeneration. The questions are efficiency, availability, heat rate and emissions, and they are answered in balance sheets as often as in physics.
Plant work means commissioning, performance testing and troubleshooting on equipment that cannot simply be switched off, which is a different tempo from product design.
Israeli grid transition means gas, storage and renewables are all being integrated at once, so the work is less static than it sounds.

What prepares you
Thermodynamics 2 is the hinge of the entire route and runs in the fall only. Heat and mass transfer covers the exchangers. Power plants is the plant-scale course and Internal combustion engines covers reciprocating machinery and generators. The advanced flow and energy lab is where you learn to measure rather than calculate.

Computational fluid dynamics, applied to anything with a fluid in it. One of the highest-demand simulation roles in Israel and one where a portfolio genuinely substitutes for experience.
