Robotics engineer
Building things that move on purpose. Israel has surgical, agricultural and defence robotics all hiring at once, and this is the route with the most hands-on portfolio material in the degree.
What the work actually is
You work on the part of the robot that touches the world: kinematics, trajectory generation, the controller, and the endless calibration between what the model says and where the arm actually is. The gap between simulation and hardware is where the job lives.
Real teams are small and the boundaries are soft. You will read someone else's embedded code, wire a sensor, and argue about whether the problem is mechanical, electrical or in the estimator. Being the person who can look at all three is the whole value.
Surgical robotics adds regulation and a level of verification that surprises people coming from research. Agricultural robotics adds mud, sun and a machine that has to work unattended for ten hours.

What prepares you
Introduction to robotics is a hard gate: it runs in the fall and the robotics lab runs in the spring, so missing the fall costs you a full year. Take the mechatronics lab alongside it. Dynamics and control is what makes you useful past the kinematics. Data structures is the one that gets you past a software screen.
