Take this route if

You want Tower Semiconductor, Intel, a sensor startup, or a masters in micro-systems. It is the route with the most physics in it and the least overlap with what everyone else is taking.

What you need before it starts

Mechanics of solids 1, Introduction to materials science, and Probability and statistics. Vibrations is recommended before MEMS rather than required, and taking it first genuinely helps.

Where it lands you

MEMS design engineer, sensor developer, process integration engineer, semiconductor R&D. For research it points at micro-systems, resonators and nanotechnology.

What will bite

Micro and nano electronics technologies is taught by Electrical Engineering and needs their approval plus a free place. Ask early, and have a replacement ready in case it does not come through.
